Los Angeles Bike Rebels reflects the hardcore subculture of the people who ride bikes on the streets dominated by car culture in the City of Los Angeles, California, USA. Their vow to disrupt the status quo leads the viewer on a visual tour of Los Angeles and the dichotomy of opposing views on mobility. "Los Angeles Bicycle Rebels" is a collection of photographs taken over a nine year period of time.

Die Fotografischen Arbeiten von Carolin Kewer "Los Angeles Bike Rebels" beschäftigen sich mit der Fahrradkultur Amerikas ins besondere der Stadt Los Angeles . Eine Stadt mit vielen verschiedenen Gesichtern. Das bekannteste wohl ist die Filmwelt mit ihren berühmten Filmstars, dem Glamour und dem immer sonnigen Himmel umrahmt mit den ikonischen Palmen. Dieses idealisierte Bild verblasst jedoch schnell vor der Realität einer wachsenden Bevölkerung, Obdachlosen und einer die Sinne betäubenden Frustration durch Verkehrsstaus biblischen Ausmaßes. Es ist die Stadt die die Autokultur vergöttert und Fahrradfahrer sowie Fußgänger verpönt. "Los Angeles Bicycle Rebels" entstand über eine Zeitspanne von 7 Jahren.

Bike Faction Photography series

Bike Faction is a photography series of 182 group photos capturing different times, places and some depict to 200 cyclist.

Art Crash Cycling Event

Art takes on many forms. The asphalt we roll on is our canvas. Every ride on it is yet another brush stroke and on these streets we create a masterpiece. The cross roads of contemporary art and the performance art of LA street cycling intersect at “Art Crash”. check it out

to my fellow cyclists and great people I met along the way during the span of this art project. I took some photographs on every group ride I attended since 2012 in USA and Europe. If you participated in one of these rides the possibility is pretty good that you are in my archive. THE CYCLING ARCHIVE includes now over 300 group rides! Amazing memories which we are all sharing. I am so glad that I was able to experience this with all of you.

First shown “Los Angeles Bicycle Rebels” in Dusseldorf Germany by Stadt Sparkasse during the 2017 Tour De France prompted further interest "

One Of Us - USA

200 photographs from “Los Angeles Bicycle Rebels” and "Bike Faction" were displayed at One Of Us Gallery in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Bike riders were able to see these pictures for the first time in November 2017

Cyclingworld - Germany

“Los Angeles Bicycle Rebels” traveled again to Germany in April 2018.
