The Art Crash Piñata is carried through the streets of Los Angeles and displayed at several art galleries. After the gallery openings close, the piñata is ritually “sacrificed” through a jousting ceremony: a cyclist, armed with a lance-like stick, strikes the hanged piñata in a theatrical battle. The act ends with the piñata’s contents revealed as offerings, followed by the burning of the sacrifice. The ritual concludes with a post-sacrifice feast at Astro Burger before returning to the starting point.

Art takes many forms. The asphalt we rode on became our canvas, and every ride added another brush stroke. On these streets, we created a living masterpiece. At the crossroads of contemporary art and the performance art of LA street cycling, “Art Crash” came alive. Los Angeles, 2014–2019. Check it out
